In the current climate context, with, for example, the 15 million hectares of forests that went up in smoke in Canada this summer, it is difficult to launch a business using wood without asking the question of the consequences this will have.
Although we use very little wood, it seems right to us to ensure the sustainability of our primary resource, by “creating” (much) more wood than we use. So, the circle is closed!
For those who don't know:
- Trees purify the air.
- They absorb 20% of the carbon present in the atmosphere.
- They help purify water. They act as a filter when there is heavy rain. Trees absorb water and gradually release it.
- They reduce soil erosion.
- Trees have a social impact in terms of employment and life (1.6 billion people on earth survive thanks to an activity linked in one way or another to trees)
- Trees are home to 80% of global biodiversity
But we have no expertise in reforestation, and we don't plan to get started right away as the matter is so complex. So we had to find the best ally in this fight: One tree planted!
One tree planted is an American NGO that collects donations to replant trees all over the world. It is therefore a major player in reforestation.
But then why did you make this choice, of an American NGO, rather than that of a French NGO or a company anywhere in the world?
Mainly for two reasons:
- the first is that it is an NGO. It is therefore a non-profit organization.
- the second, the most important, is that it is one of the biggest. they therefore have the means to do things as best as possible. They pool donations to give large sums and reduce the costs of planting each tree (and therefore can plant more)
